Widening participation in medicine and healthcare is a key priority for policymakers and higher education institutions. A significant amount of funds has recently been invested in new higher education places for medical students. In addition, across a range of healthcare subjects students from widening participation backgrounds continue to be heavily under-represented. This important event will bring together strategic decision makers and deliverers from across sectors to discuss the challenges in this key area for both HE and the NHS. It is a key event for both people working in either the healthcare sector or higher education.

During the day you will have the chance to:

  • Understand the policy priorities that will shape work in this field in the next 12 months.
  • Hear from examples of innovatory practice that brings together medical schools, HEIs, professional bodies and NHS Trusts.
  • Work in small groups with colleagues to explore how to meet the challenges in this fields in your own context.
