Innovation in Access

The 2014 NEON Summer Symposium is the key event in our annual calendar for NEON members. It brings together colleagues from universities, schools, colleges and partner organisations to shape both how access work and the work of NEON is delivered for the forthcoming year. Our first symposium in 2013 brought together over 100 people from across sectors, and featured over 30 speakers and workshops. Our focus this year will be ‘Innovation in Access’. What does this mean? Where can it be found? What are the barriers to innovation? How can policymakers do more to support it?

Confirmed keynote speakers so far include:

  • Professor Les Ebdon CBE, Director of Office for Fair Access
  • Professor Joy Carter, Vice-Chancellor, University of Winchester
  • Professor Geoff Layer, Vice Chancellor, University of Wolverhampton
  • Brian Lightman, General Secretary, Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL)
  • Sarah Howls, Head of Student Opportunity, Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE)
