NEON Summit – Creating a Representative Healthcare Workforce for the Future

  • Date

      17/06/2025

  • Time

      10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Widening access to healthcare remains a key area for government, higher education and the NHS. In England alone there is a severe shortage of healthcare professionals, particularly doctors and nurses. There have been calls for the NHS to intensify its recruitment efforts by collaborating with educational institutions, to increase medical schools’ capacity to train more doctors and to encourage more medical professionals to enter general practice. With the UK population expected to continue to grow the need for increasing numbers of healthcare professionals is set to last for many years to come.

This NEON online event will look at the ongoing need to grow the NHS workforce and the strategies that are being adopted to enable this to happen. It will consider how inequalities in studying healthcare courses can be addressed and suggest ways in which students can best be supported through their higher education studies to enable them to thrive in their future careers.
