Fast Trackers (University of Liverpool)

NEON Widening Access Initiative Award – COMMENDATION

Fast trackers

Fast Trackers has been delivered for the past 6 years and acts as a mentoring project for around 20 Year 11 students from the local Somail and Yemeni community. The young people attend fortnightly sessions which involve the young people giving up 12 evenings of their own time between October and April, leading up to their GCSE exams. In summer 2013 86% of the group achieved 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE. From the 2013/14 cohort 7 from 20 achieved grades high enough (8x A*-C, including 5 at ‘B’ Grade) to apply for Liverpool’s Y12 Access Project which aids their direct application to a Russell Group University.
