The National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) aims to support the most disadvantaged young people in England to progress into higher education (HE). It will run from 2016-17 to 2019-20. NEON feels that it can help support NCOP consortia through its newly developed ‘NCOP in Action’ programme. This page lays out some of the activities that will take place between May 2017 and January 2018. We are constantly reviewing this offer and welcome any suggestions from consortia to help improve the offer of support.
NCOP in Action Programme
NEON have built a reputation for offering excellent CPD for widening access professionals. Building on our previous experience we are delighted to offer the following training developed especially for NCOP staff. The programme is made up of eight training days and allows practitioners to develop their expertise. NEON can also offer bespoke training for up to 30 staff. Several NCOP consortia have already taken up this offer. A full description of the course can be found here (link will open in a new tab).
Several consortia have approached us about offering bespoke training for their areas. Any further requests should be made by emailing Martin Webster (martin.webster@londonhigher.ac.uk)
The full course of 8 sessions is priced at:
Non-member – £1200 per place
NEON member – £800 per place
NCOPs investing in the full course can send different delegates to different modules.
Practitioners can book on to individual modules from the course at the rates below:
Non-member – £199 per place

Directors’ Meetings
NEON did intend to organise regular meetings, throughout the programme, offering consortia Directors the opportunity to network, share best practice, discuss challenges and reach common solutions. After a conversation with HEFCE it appears this is something that they are already undertaking and we are conscious of the danger of duplication. NEON would welcome feedback from NCOPs as to the merits of holding such meetings in addition to meetings being facilitated by HEFCE.
NCOP Practitioners Conference
We are hosting a one day event prior to the annual Summer Symposium on June 7th. The day will enable all practitioners directly involved in the project to find out the types of activities that are going on in other areas and allow them to make key contacts with other consortia. The event will take place at Leeds Beckett University.
NEON’s NCOP in Action Programme is in addition to any HEFCE-run events. NCOP consortia are under no obligation to participate in NEON’s NCOP in Action Programme.
