This NEON Working Group looks at how to widen access, support retention and encourage success for learners who are from ‘non-traditional’ backgrounds.
These include refugees or asylum-seekers, Gypsy-Roma-Travellers (GRT), looked-after children and young carers. As non-traditional students come from diverse backgrounds, their needs are diverse and specific needs arise for many different reasons.
This working group, hosted by the University of Surrey, explores how to best support these groups, and welcomes contributions from WP practitioners, researchers, community advocates and learners to create a working group environment to take forward our sector’s support in this area.
Please join us and help to build this network. If you have any queries about this working group contact Grace Imwensi.
Next meeting to be announced shortly.
Attendance at Working Group meetings is free to NEON members. Non-members are welcome to attend but there is a fee of £80 per meeting.
