T Levels are reshaping the landscape of technical education in England. Launched in 2020, T Levels combine classroom learning with practical industry placements, offering a high-quality alternative to traditional academic routes. This academic year alone, over 25,500 students enrolled on T Level courses—an impressive 60% increase from the previous year. Since their inception, nearly 60,000 students have chosen T Levels, a clear signal of growing confidence in this new qualification.
Designed to meet industry needs, each T Level includes a Technical Qualification and a minimum 45-day industry placement. Students gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, better preparing them for skilled employment, apprenticeships, or further technical study. The government remains committed to expanding T Levels, investing £28 million in 2025 to support providers with industry-standard equipment.
T Levels are already proving their value as a progression route. In 2023 and 2024, 97% of T Level students who applied to higher education through UCAS received at least one offer, and 83% were successfully placed. Over 160 Higher Education Institutions, including most Russell Group universities, now accept T Levels for at least one course. These results show that T Levels are becoming an increasingly recognised and respected pathway to university.
What Is the T Level Ambassador Network?
Supporting this growth is the vibrant T Level Ambassador Network—a group of over 900 members from across education and industry. The network’s aim is to champion T Levels, raise awareness, and ensure they continue to meet the needs of learners and employers.
Ambassadors are active in promoting T Levels in their communities and sectors. Their activities range from speaking at events and mentoring new providers, to working with employers to create industry placement opportunities. Recent initiatives include hosting “T Level Thursday” during National Apprenticeship Week, and developing resources to help employers understand the benefits of offering placements.
The network operates on principles of advocacy, collaboration, and leadership. It connects colleges, universities, employers, and other stakeholders to share good practice and drive forward the success of T Levels nationwide.

By engaging with T Level students and supporting the Ambassador Network, universities can help bridge the gap between technical and academic education. T Level students bring not only strong academic knowledge but also practical skills and real-world experience, enriching the university environment.
With increasing numbers of students choosing T Levels and a strong track record of progression into higher education, it’s more important than ever for universities to recognise, value, and promote these qualifications.
