Dr Ruth Ayres is Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching, Learning & Academic Governance) at the University of Derby.
Prior to this, Ruth was Dean of Learning Enhancement & Innovation at the University of Derby, where she led learning & teaching, technology-enhanced learning, quality assurance & enhancement and library & learner support across the University.
Qualified as a Biologist, Ruth was a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Sciences for a number of years, before moving to senior, strategic posts in Academic Practice at the Universities of Warwick and Salford. Ruth has led a number of transformational change projects which have enhanced and innovated learning, teaching and the student experience. She is currently the Deputy Chair of a HEFCE/OfS Catalyst Funded project: Addressing barriers to student success Student Attainment Project 2 (SAP2) which focuses on closing attainment gaps across three institutions: The University of Derby, Solent University and the University of West London.
