From insight to impact: Writing up research for publication and presenting to non-specialist audiences. Are you a widening participation practitioner ready to share your research with the world?
As part of their approach to regulating equality of opportunity the Office for Students (OfS) is calling on the sector to strengthen evaluation and share findings widely – your work is vital to that mission. Effective dissemination of your evaluation results ensures the impact and utility of your research reaches its full potential and informs the higher education sector about good practices that truly work. It also allows those outside the field to recognise the importance of widening access and participation efforts and the impact being made.
This one-day, hands-on workshop delivered by Stacey Mottershaw Stacey Mottershaw | Departments | University of Leeds is designed to help you turn your evaluation into published research and compelling presentations that resonate with both academic and non-specialist audiences.
You will leave the day with the confidence and skills to:
- Choose the right type of output for your research
- Know when and where to publish your work
- Navigate the publishing process – from structuring your output to handling rejection
- Understand authorship norms and how to decide author order
- Communicate clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
- Craft presentations that engage and inspire, using storytelling, visuals, and infographics
- Keep the conversation going after your presentation ends
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your approach, this workshop will help you amplify the impact of your widening access work both within the sector and beyond.
Your research matters. Let’s make sure it’s heard.
This event is a full day – online – event however delegates may also choose to attend just the morning session (Writing up research) or the afternoon session (Publishing your research).
