IntoUniversity Supplementary Schools Project – IntoUniversity

Widening Access Initiative (Outreach) Award – Commendation

The IntoUniversity Supplementary Schools Project is a three year widening participation initiative. Beginning in 2014, the project has gone from strength to strength building relationships with universities, supplementary schools and educational organisations, such as the British Museum and The Museum of London. The project aims to widen access to Higher Education by delivering aspirational workshops to young people at their local university. Here, the team introduce young people and their parents to life and learning at university. The project has seen over 1500 students over the last three year, as well as helped over 250 teachers and parents to gain knowledge and awareness of the different pathways into higher education. The project now offers three strands: Higher education in FOCUS, parents information sessions and teacher training workshops, all three of which have proved to be a great success.
