NEON Widening Access Initiative Award – COMMENDATION
Parent Ambassadors work to support parents of prospective students, despite having never been to university themselves. Since its creation in 2006 it has always been a distinctive and innovative project within the Higher Education sector. Parents are able to relate with Parent Ambassadors as the ambassadors have been through the experience of supporting a child through university. The ambassadors can offer advice on student finance and address other concerns. They attend schools/colleges with information stands, as well as being booked as speakers at parent events. As of January 2015 Keele has 11 Parent Ambassadors, four of which are new to the role this year.
