Professor Mark Power

Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Liverpool John Moores University

Mark Power is the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Liverpool John Moores University and a Professor of Higher Education Leadership.

Mark has a long established and significant track record in higher education management, driving transformational evidence-based innovation and change leadership within Liverpool John Moores University – regionally, nationally and internationally.

At LJMU he led the development of the University’s Strategy 2030 setting out the ambition and vision for the future driving innovation in personalised and responsive learning, real world research and authentic and meaningful partnership within the city region and beyond.

He has been the lead instigator and negotiator in bringing research, knowledge exchange and inward investment to the city region and developed talent pipelines to create viable and sustainable employability for students and graduates to fulfil the region’s skills agenda.

Mark is a Director of several companies with local to global reach, all with a focus on recognizing Liverpool as a city region with the most underprivileged, as well as the most talented in our society, he has been recognized by the Purpose Coalition for his leadership in prioritizing social mobility and inclusion for the LJMU student community and for citizens in the broader city region.

Mark has been recognized for his work overseas with Honorary Professorships from the Shanghai University of Engineering and Science (China) and Yunnan Agricultural University, China. He is a Regional Councillor for the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and a Director and Trustee of the John Moores Painting Prize.

Mark has a degree in Fine Art, an MBA and as an artist with a highly regarded reputation is a regular exhibitor both in the UK and abroad.
