NEON Outstanding Access School or College Award – COMMENDATION
The University of Manchester’s Widening Participation Database shows that during the 2013/14 academic year The Derby High School had 3970 contact hours with the University across 22 separate events. As stated in their recent Ofsted report, ‘the % of students who progress to post-16 studies is high’. Disadvantaged students perform well above the national average with over 98% progressing to FE.” A key part of this derives from the huge range of opportunities provided for their students to visit universities, work on challenging and inspiring HE led projects and developing their personal responsibility.
